How does a bespoke commission begin?
We start with a consultation to discuss the garment, occasion, preferred style, materials, budget and required date. We then confirm the proposed scope and next steps.
Do I need to have a finished design?
No. You can bring sketches, reference images, fabric ideas or simply explain what you need. References are used for direction rather than producing an exact copy of another designer’s work.
How is a bespoke quotation prepared?
After discussing the design, fabric, construction, fitting requirements and deadline. Investment varies with the complexity of the commission.
Can you source the fabric and materials?
Yes, where agreed. A 50% deposit is normally required before work begins so that materials can be sourced and production time reserved.
Can I change the design after work has started?
Changes may be possible, but they can affect the cost and completion date. Any material change will be discussed and agreed before additional work proceeds.
How far in advance should I enquire?
As early as possible, particularly for detailed occasionwear or garments needed for a fixed event. Availability depends on the complexity of the commission and our existing workload.
